Darley Dale Primary school has been offering Forest School sessions to its pupils for the last 9 years. Situated in the most magnificent grounds, the school's Early Years Team realised that if we were to offer a toddler group to local parents, the 'Forest School' option was the obvious choice.

'Forest School Friday' sessions will be run by Mrs Holmes, a qualified level 3 Forest School Practitioner and Reception Teacher at Darley Dale Primary. This offers a unique opportunity for your child to get to know their class teacher before September, which will really support their transition to 'big school'.

The children will get to participate in all kinds of Forest School activities such as potion making, bug hunting, tree climbing, leaf identification, den making, roasting marshmallows.....the list is endless! What makes Forest Schools truly unique, is that it is child led. Meaning that sessions are tailored to the children's interests. So the more regularly you attend, the more your child will get from their experience!

Sessions will be suitable for children aged 2 and up. Please be mindful that whilst a trained adult will be leading the session, it is parents and carers responsibility to supervise their own child/ren. Forest Schools takes place in all weather, except for high winds. Please make sure your child/ren are dressed suitably, allowing for getting wet and muddy! If we do feel the weather conditions are going to prevent a session going ahead, you will be contacted via email.

Mrs Holmes will meet you at the office and lead the group to our Forest School area.
