Aspirations Week
What a week we had at Darley Dale Primary School! We have been exploring, finding out and learning about so many different jobs.
Year 1 and 2 started the week learning about veterinary nursing. Laura and Nicky told us all about how they look after animals: cleaning their teeth, picking out ticks, keeping animals calm and even looking after the vets! We looked at lots of exciting things like x-ray, ticks and teeth.
The Junior children had the opportunity to choose which careers thy would like to find out more about.
Paul is a firefighter he came and told the children all about his job and brought the fire engine so they could have a look at all of the equipment and use the hose!
Lots of children learned about wedding planning and floristry with Bethan, they had a wonderful time and learned some tricks of the trade.
Rachel is a life coach, she talked to the children about her role, the children had lots questions and were really interested in how she supports mental health.
Nathan talked some of the children about his adventurous role as a Mountain Leader. The children loved hearing all about this and exploring the equipment that he brought to share with us.
Some children we inspired by Lydia's sporting challenge of the completing the London Marathon. Maybe we will see some DDPS children competing in the years to come.
Other children chose to hear about the work Charlie does working with museums and national heritage and all of the exciting places it has taken her.
Lauren has travelled the world working in hospitality. She wanted to share this with the children and reaffirm that they are capable of anything!
Chris shared his job in Data Engineering and Programming. We had lots of children really interested in this area and they couldn't wait to find out all about it!
