Our topic question this term is 'Where do the wheels on the bus go?'

Fantastic phonics! We have been practising reading words with the 'ai' sound. Look at all the different ways 'ai' can be written down.......
This term we will be looking at traditional tales in our English lessons. Here we are acting out some well known stories. Can you spot any that you know?
Next week we will be making animal finger puppets. We have been practising out sewing skills and designing our puppets. Watch this space for the finished product!
Today we have been learning how to tell the time to o'clock and half past. We sat and looked at the class clock for a few minutes to get an idea of how fast all the different hands move.
On Friday we went to Lea Green! We had an amazing time!!! We built mini-dens, played games in the cave and had a go in the soft play area. In the afternoon we took on the low ropes. We all really challenged ourselves and had a fab day.

This weeek we had a fantastic time during forest schools. We threw mud balls, made obstacles courses and found worms eggs. All child initiated! What a great afternoon!

We have been busy painting Tigers as part of our new topic. We had to look very carefully at the colours and patterns we could see.
This week we had a very important message from a very important person. Santa was in need of some help........
Well done to all our stars, robins and shepherds. You did a great job in our nativity 'A Christmas Recipe'! We are all very proud.
We have been making Gibgerbread Houses as part of our 'Why Don't We Live in Tents?' topic. We learnt how to sieve, mix, knead, roll and cut. Then we baked tham in the oven and decorated them. Yum Yum!
This week we went on a walk in the local area to look for different types of houses. We found bungalows, detatched, semi-detached houses. We also bumped into a very special lady who gave us all a biscuit.....

Today we launched our new topic 'Why don't we live in tents?' The children had a great time trying out different tents, and thinking about if they would like to live in one.
The children have had a wonderful first day in Year 1! We have written lists, painted pictures of ourselves and enjoyed some choosing time.
