Swimming

Swimming is part of the national curriculum physical education programme of study.

We provide our children with swimming and water safety lessons for all of our children in Key Stage 2. Currently, all children in Year 4 take part in weekly swimming lessons every week throughout the year. The lessons are led by qualified instructors at the Arc Leisure Centre.

Each pupil is required to be able to do the following:

  • Perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations
  • Swim completely, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • Use a range of strokes effectively, for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
