Ideas and activities

Hi everyone,

As time goes on, I keep adding bits to this page that might be helpful for you to use at home. Under no circumstances do I expect you to complete it all. I am just adding practical activities and sheets that may be useful to everyone - pick and choose what is appropriate for your child. You may have ideas of your own - please share and use them. There are no 'fixed rules' just do what you think is right and appropriate for your family. I do not expect a 'school setting' or 'school routine'. These are exceptional circumstances and all we can all do is our best. Overall, please stay safe, happy and positive. My email address if you need to contact me is: angelab30@darleydale.derbyshire.sch.uk

Stay safe everyone

Summer 6

Is the Wii more fun than Grandad’s old toys?

Our topic this term is based around old and new toys. I have uploaded some links to Youtube with stories that children might like. Ideas for this term could include:

English - Looking at stories in familiar settings and writing your own about your favourite toy. Looking at non fiction texts and non-chronological reports and creating your own. Writing an old toy information book. Remember to focus on capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, question marks, adjectives (describing words) and conjunctions (connecting words in a sentence) E.g The old teddy was sat on the dusty chair because the girl had left it there!

Maths - multiplication and division (sharing toys into groups for people, buying toys in shops etc). Subtraction (taking toys away from a group). Measurement (ordering toys in order of size) Sorting (grouping toys in different categories - has fur, has wheels, needs power, is blue etc)

Design & Technology - design and make peg dolls

History - looking at toys that Grandparents used to play with

Speaking and listening/Drama -act out a scene from the film Toy Story

Computing/ICT - direct and star in a Toy Story film! Program a toy to move.

*Remember, no pressure, no fixed rules, everybody just do your best. I love seeing your photos and videos of what you have all been doing. Take care everyone*

Suggested Timetable - 1.6.20 - adapt, change, pick and choose - not set in stone, just ideas, help and support if needed.

  • nine
  • ten

Spellings – 25.5.20

Wow Moments Slips - can be used to motivate children, doesn't have to be academic. May be see how many you can get in a day and give a reward? Compete with brothers/sisters? Helps to keep children (and parents) positive and help mental health and well being. Thinking about being kind and doing things for others.

Hi everyone,

just to keep you updated: I have set some Maths tasks on 'MyMaths' yesterday (Monday 18th May). There is a variety of number tasks, shape tasks and fractions tasks - pick and choose what you find useful and helpful. Children's usernames and passwords are stuck on an A4 sheet in yellow homework books. Any problems, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Keep smiling everyone smiley

'The Wheels on The Bus Go....?'

Our topic this term is based around the story 'Naughty Bus' by Jan Oke. I have uploaded a copy of the text and a YouTube link to read/watch the story. Ideas for this term could include:

English - write own naughty bus (or other form of transport!) story (focus on capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks, adjectives and conjunctions e.g. The Naughty Bus raced towards the deep pond but suddenly stopped! )

Maths - time (bus timetables), money (buying tickets, getting change) counting in 2s (2 people on a seat), addition and subtraction (passengers getting on/off a bus), directions, length/distance

Design & Technology - design and make a junk model bus

Geography - Countries of the UK and capital cities, comparing a city (London) to a village

History - significant individuals in the past - the first flight - The Wright Brothers

Science - forces/friction (wheels moving)

Computing/ICT - plan, direct and film your own 'Naughty Bus' (or Naughty *other form of transport*) story. You could add subtitles, music, narrate it. Use the YouTube link as a guide to help you.

I have uploaded some resources that could be used to make a bus station role play area. I will also keep uploading resources for you to pick and choose what is appropriate for you to use.
